Getting started

Is Spoonify free?: Yes. A free account gets you the feed, your own recipes, your cookbooks, search, and access to chef profiles. Some chefs offer a paid membership — monthly or one-time lifetime access — for their subscriber-only recipes.
How do I sign up?: Create an account with your email, or continue with Google or Apple. New email signups confirm their address with a quick verification link. On the web, you can also turn on creator mode during signup.
Where can I download the app?: Download Spoonify from the App Store and Google Play, or cook in the browser at app.spoonify.dev.
What's the difference between follow, friends, and subscribe?: Follow is free and one-way — tap Follow on a chef's profile to see their public recipes in your feed. Friends is mutual: send or accept a friend request, and you can see recipes and cookbooks they share with friends. Subscribe, or buy lifetime access, unlocks that chef's subscriber-only recipes. None of these replaces the others: following is not a friendship, and friendship is not a paid membership.

Can I publish my own recipes?: Yes. Add ingredients, step-by-step instructions, photos, and a featured video. Choose who can see it: only you, friends, or the public. Public recipes can also be subscribers-only. On the mobile app, Cook Mode walks you through the steps and keeps the screen awake while you cook.
How do cookbooks work?: Cookbooks are collections for the recipes you save and the ones you create. Make as many as you like — Weeknight Heroes, Friend Visits, Bread Obsession — and set each one to only you, friends, or public. Public cookbooks can also be subscribers-only.

How do creators earn?: Turn on creator mode when you sign up, or later in Account settings — that unlocks payouts and subscriber-only publishing. Connect a Stripe account and choose a monthly membership or one-time lifetime access. People who pay get your subscriber-only recipes, and payouts go to you through Stripe. Spoonify takes $2 + 10% on each monthly charge, or 20% on each lifetime purchase. Full detail in Creator Payouts.
What's the difference between monthly and lifetime access?: Monthly is a recurring membership you can cancel anytime — you keep access through the end of the billing period. Lifetime is a one-time purchase for permanent access to that chef's subscriber-only recipes. Each chef offers one or the other at a time. If you already subscribe monthly and they switch to lifetime, you can upgrade; existing lifetime access stays unlocked even if they switch back to monthly.
Can I cancel a creator subscription?: Yes, for monthly memberships. On the web, open Subscriptions in settings. In the app, go to Profile → Manage access. Open a monthly plan to manage billing or unsubscribe — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Lifetime access is a one-time purchase, so there is no recurring charge and nothing to cancel.

How do I delete my account?: On the web, go to Account settings and use Delete account. In the mobile app, open the Help Center and use Delete account under the Danger zone. Deletion removes your recipes, cookbooks, uploads, and any active subscriptions or lifetime purchases, and we email a confirmation to the address on the account, as outlined in our privacy policy.
